Work Required: These Lombardi Poplar trees were remove as part of a redevelopment programme. There was a
number of ecological and accessible constraints that needed to be factored in. We arranged for
full ecology survey to be carried out which the results determined which time of year we could
complete the works. The adjacent railway had to be shut down to remove any risk of injury to the
railway operators or property.
Some of the trees were felled in one, some were accessed and dismantled in sections using a
MEWP and the others which were inaccessible for the MEWP were climbed and dismantled in
small controlled sections.
Once on the ground, the sections of tree was stacked into a pile and chipped for Bio-mass fuel.
The total weight of the wood chip that left site came to 74,000kg (74t).
The job hit all planned ‘way-points’ through the operation.
